Implants and Oral Surgery of Chattanooga is led by Bill Childress, DDS, MD and Ricky Johnson, DDS, MD, both Tennessee natives who returned home after distinguished careers as oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the United States Air Force. Dr. Childress, a La Follette, TN native, retired as a Colonel after 21 years of service, including a tenure as Program Director of the Air Force's largest OMS residency program. Dr. Johnson, who grew up in Dickson, TN, retired in 2014 after commanding the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Flight and serving as Chairman/Program Director of the San Antonio Military OMS Residency Program, one of the most respected training pipelines in military medicine. Both surgeons trained at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, completing dual DDS/MD training during their residencies, before bringing that level of surgical and leadership expertise to Chattanooga.
